New
Insurance Eligibility System Goes Live For US Based Client
November 7, 2005
(Cork, Ireland)— DeCare Systems
Ireland (DSI), a leading provider of software development
and Internet solutions, announced today the implementation
of a comprehensive Java based Insurance Eligibility System
for a leading US based insurer. The mid-west based Insurer
is a US industry leader with more than thirty years of claims
and benefit management experience.
The Java based solution replaced a number
of legacy Mainframe applications and introduced a significant
number of new online and batch processing components. The
batch processing components use DSI's proprietary High Volume
Processing architecture first pioneered in the highly successful
US national healthcare provider system (http://www.decaresystems.ie/news_NPF.html)
earlier this year. Entirely written in Java, the High Volume
Processing (HVP) architecture, which has a strong multi-threaded
architecture, has totally outstripped the legacy mainframe
in terms of throughput, performance, reliability and cost
per transaction. The web based user interface incorporates
single sign on, workflow as well as identity management features
and integrates seamlessly with a DSI developed CRM application
which was implemented in 2004.
This complex project required DSI to work
in a multi-track manner to complete the four major development
modules as well as converting the legacy data and building
additional legacy interfaces. DSI uses a lightweight programming
model combined with a comprehensive continuous integration
process for developing all Java applications. DSI's lightweight
programming model is based on best-in-class frameworks such
as Spring, Hibernate and Struts.
