New
US National Healthcare Provider System Goes Live
DeCare
Systems Ireland implements an Internet based system for 39 US insurance
carriers.
July 01, 2005 (Cork, Ireland) —
DeCare Systems Ireland (DSI),
a leading software development and Internet solutions provider,
is proud to announce the implementation of the new Internet-based
US national healthcare provider system for a leading network
of healthcare insurers in the United States.
The 39 insurance companies who make up the
network and who provide insurance coverage for 45 million
US citizens will use the new DSI developed system to retrieve
healthcare provider fee information to assist in pricing insurance
claims. The system provides a secure online system-to-system
interface allowing enterprise claim processing systems to
process data securely and efficiently. The application will
be the system of record for the networks US national insurance
business and will process an average of over 600,000 provider
transactions on a daily basis
From a project perspective, DSI worked directly
with the 39 insurance carriers and managed a complex requirements
gathering process. Implementation was also carefully planned
and coordinated; furthermore a strategy was selected whereby
both legacy and new system operated in parallel for a period
of time. The DSI designed and developed Java based solution
replaces an existing mainframe based application and is highly
performant. Application performance on mid-tier Unix servers
far surpassed that of the mainframe and is due in a large
part to the DSI High Volume Processing architecture, which
is layered on top of the Spring Framework.
