DSI and MTUG Host ‘Agile with Team System and DB Pro’Event

In association with DSI, MTUG Cork, the Microsoft Technology User Group, will host an ‘Agile with Team System and DB Pro’ event at 7pm on Monday 28th May at the Imperial Hotel on South Mall, Cork.

DSI have a team of experienced Microsoft certified .NET architects, analysts and developers who are currently building significant .NET -based applications for retail and insurance clients in the US, Canada and Europe. Presenting on behalf of DSI is Alan Crowley, Technical Project Lead and Brendan Lawlor, DSI’s Process Architect. Alan and Brendan will discuss the following areas:

“Introducing your Database Objects to the Agile Process Using Microsoft Visual Team System”

How do you manage your database objects in the software development lifecycle?
This talk will illustrate how DSI manages the development of database objects in a team-centric environment using:

· Microsoft’s Team Foundation Server for Source Control
· Visual Studio for Database Professionals for release management
· Visual Studio for Developers (database project type) for database object development.

Level 200: Focus will be on the developer’s role in SQL development and will cover a number of features available in Visual Studio for Database Professionals.

Alan Crowley

Presented by Alan Crowley - As technical lead on a number of different projects within DSI, Alan is a driving force behind the implementation of Microsoft patterns and practices within the company and has spent over 10 years as a hands-on development consultant in the industry.

“Can Microsoft Development be Agile?”

This talk will describe some of the principles and practices behind agile or code-centric development, and show to what extent Microsoft development infrastructure supports these practices. Topics like Unit Testing, Iterative Releases, Continuous Integration and Refactoring will be covered.

Presented by Brendan Lawlor – Brendan is responsible for guiding and directing the technical evolution of the software development processes at DSI and has been the champion for the adoption of the Spring Framework as a backbone for DSI's development standards.
