Quest Software Application Management Tools Help DSI Deliver High Performance Amazon Enterprise Solution

(Cork, Ireland) January 5, 2007 — DeCare Systems Ireland (DSI), Prior to the recent soft launch of a significant Amazon Enterprise Solution implementation for one of the world’s largest retailers, DSI used two Quest Software tools for accurate and efficient pre-production testing across the application.

The launch is a flagship project for Amazon Services Enterprise Solution as the client is a UK based retailer with over 150 stores worldwide operating in 30 countries. In partnership with Amazon Services and Ixtens Inc. , DSI were responsible for managing the implementation, establishing performance benchmarks as well as the hosting and testing of Ixtens Item Content Manager (ICM) for the high profile client. A critical aspect of this project was to ensure the scalability and performance of the application. In order to achieve this, DSI’s Java Performance Lab used Quest Software’s PerformaSure (version 4.1) to detect and resolve performance bottlenecks quickly. During the three-month profiling period over 4,000 hours of site performance statistics were analysed. Once issues were identified, the DSI team used JProbe to isolate and resolve potential application stability concerns at the line of code level. The code profiling features of JProbe saved significant time by allowing our team to perform in-depth code analysis, using high level reports from PerformaSure as a clear indicator of application hotspots. Following this analysis, detailed reports (down to the line of code) were sent to all involved parties.

Quest Software’s comprehensive tool suite is the backbone of DSI’s Java pre-production performance testing methodology process. The tools are an integral part of DSI’s Java Performance Lab , giving our enterprise integration clients added confidence in the scalability and performance of Amazon Services Enterprise implementations.
