DSI and IT@Cork Host Leading Java Expert, Rod Johnson.

Ireland (DSI), IT@Cork, the Cork Network for IT professionals
hosted Rod Johnson, one of the world's leading authorities
on Java and J2EE development, in a free half day conference.
Attended by over 150 people, the conference heard Johnson
present Spring, J2EE,
EJB3 and Beyond", speaking
about the aims of Spring and how it fits into the evolution
of J2SE and J2EE.
A University of Sydney graduate who is now
based in London, Johnson has championed the simplification
of Java development. He advocates the combination of Spring
with agile techniques such as breaking project groups into
smaller teams and is one of the founders of the open source
project that produced the Spring Framework. After addressing
developers and managers onsite at DSI, he continued to the
it@cork hosted conference for the afternoon.
Introduced to Rod Johnson through the IT@Cork
technical forum, DSI aim to raise awareness of Spring in other
organizations after successfully adopting the Spring Framework
for Java/J2EE development in a number of large-scale projects.
Opening the conference, Stephen Lawlor from IT@Corks
technical forum praised DSI for having the vision to take
the lead in the IT community in Cork in bringing this technical
talent to the IT community. If we are to be leaders
in technology, we must be aware of opportunities to enhance
the value of our services and products and make conscious,
knowledgeable decisions as to whether to take advantage of
such opportunities. IT@Cork and companies like DSI know that
are doing everything possible to promote and invigorate the
software technology business in Cork.
